Sorry about the chicks!!
we also had all DOA from Meyer in 2018. Iām in OH, about a 3 hour drive from Meyer, and live in city, but transit time took 3 days. However, I think the handling by PO may have been the main issue bc with 25+ chicks there was very little poop in the box leading me to believe they died earlier in transit than later (canāt tell by temp of chicks bc they were shipped with warm packs). When I arrived at the PO, they advised that the box was reallyquiet. I opened them and all dead. I refused shipment at PO, called Meyer and they refunded me right away. Iāve since had some Meyer chickens, but I picked them up in person when I was in the Cleveland area. Another chick order from a different hatchery: Ipaid for Express shipping, they arrived in 17 hours. But 3 died and a few looked a bit worn from shipping. Overall, I would pick up in person anytime you are able.
my suggestions for chicks:
see if a livestock auction near you. (We googled this and found 3 near us). Then see when they hold auctions and when small animals are sold. The auction house we use often has a few batches of chicks that people have brought to sell.
check fb for farm pages bc there may be a farm near you that sells chicks, chickens. They cannot sell on fb, but can have a farm page.
Check NPIP site. In order to ship chicks, a place needs to be NPIP.

I don't know where you are located, but I'm in OH. I click on my state and 35 pages of NPIP listings comes up. Scroll through the docs to see if any are drivable. look them up on fb, internet, or CL bc they likely have some outlet to sell their birds. The doc includes a lot of codes. These are stock codes indicating breed.
Document example:
Find codes here. "R" is for regular sized chicken breeds. "W" is for Bantam sized breeds.
