It is sad - I have to agree that it's the chicken's owner I'd be upset with. There are so many unknowns, though. But no matter the circumstances, it is sad.
If it is a "one time" incident this happened, then it is purely accidental. If chickens are being killed over and over again, then you gotta talk to that chicken owner unless they don't care.

Guess my question would be 'Why where they in the road in the first place?' Then vent your angar at the people who didn't know where their bird were. And even then, crap happens, birds get out, birds get hit by care, sometimes there is just nothing you could have done.
