JJ

Oh my goodness what are we going to do with you??!! What part of NJ are you in? I may be headed home soon (Pop has some medical stuff going on) and may have to make a trip to meet you and Luna

CM, I'm in west central Jersey.......Would love to see both of you

.

JJ - I've also been thinking of you! I hope things (situations) have not caused you any stress. I figure, no news is good news! How are your birds? Hopefully your neighbors have been good?

Ginny - How goes it? Thanks for asking about BJ and Ellie - they are good and super duper happy that the blazing hot weather chilled out today. Neighbors - major worries with their dogs and the other one who is flooding me out - not good.done etc. You and DH officially being retired as of June 23 is awesome - and so wonderfully young! Hope that broody is still done being broody and I'm so so sorry about the internal layer -

Nurse, starting at the last page as I normally do, I saw your post, and this might have already been mentioned but lorazepam (Ativan) or zofran are often used. The lorazepam is rx'd for nausea (off label) during Tx and works very well for some people, as does the zofran. Hoping you find something that works for you. Almost everyone I've known of has had great results with MJ for nausea and appetite.

As for odors and tastes, chemo actually alters the receptor cells in the mouth, the cells that tell the brain what odor or flavor is being smelled or tasted. That's why it's so hard to try to successfully mask any type of odor with another type of odor...the one used to mask an odor will more than likely smell terrible, too. Good thing normal taste & smell usually come back over time.

Sometimes butterscotch candies will help a little with the weird taste right after rad tx. (I had 6 weeks of daily radiation + inpatient chemo of drip 5FU + mitomycin c, with complications.)

CoyoteMagic, so sorry about the added ER trip & fallout from it...glad you stayed and your other doc took over. Here's to many more birthdays.

My teen DD just had to go to the ER in another town and they wouldn't give her a chair. I was rushing to the ER (about an hour away) to be with her, but she passed out again after arriving, and it was a sweet guy w/cancer waiting in the ER that saw her turn white and pass out again and he started yelling at them and made them get her a place to wait. I saw him a few hours later and he told me the story. Bless his heart...out of a full ER waiting room he was the only one that cared. Cancer can take a lot from us but not our heart.

Good thoughts and hugs to all

Lost a bird today, who knows what to. She'd been acting broody off and on, but getting up to eat and drink and poop, so, who knows. Feeling down today anyway today. one more bummer to chalk up to the day I guess.
