Thank you all for allowing my brief pity party. Better today, getting a port put in for hydration~ can't seem to drink enough.

Also some friends are going to be in the area from southern Ca. They'll try to stop by also- that'd make my month just about!

Sad about the bird, but in the grand scheme of things she is NOT a reason to stop living!

Again~ you are my rock. Red hen~ cornbread sticks right now, and I know you knew that, so thanks!

'Luck all!
Erin

Sorry for not getting back to everyone sooner

Had fun with my dad and the nurses at the hospital last week. He is such a character and keeps them all laughing even being sick. Some of his swelling went down which was our top concern but food was not a good thing last week. Even when he wanted to eat he said that everything tasted funny, even water that he drinks every day for the last 10 years. He is much better today and is still a character. Next is the prednisone for a month to help keep his immune system from attacking his kidneys and another appt on June 24 for blood work to see where we are at in the first month but we still have 5 to go. He is happy and healthy today but I think that is because he was raised the old way, work until you can't. Silly dad needs to rest a bit but I think that will be next week for his birthday

On a ranting side note that my dad can never know, the "boss" at the office where I work called my actual boss to complain that I was not here last week and didn't tell him that I was going to be gone!

He is rarely here and when he is it is only for 3 hours a week! I told the other people that work here that I was going to be out with my dad and where to reach me (3 different phones that I would be near) because I could not get a hold of the "boss" and he rarely replies to my emails or calls. I left out all of the possible supplies that they might need and even supplies that they only need once a year but it still wasn't good enough

You would think that a guy that left for 3 months to care for his dying father would be more willing to accept when someone else wants to take off so that they can help their father be well and around for a long time.

I hope he realizes now that he is going to get SEVERAL notices about when I will be gone. The day I find out about any appt or time that I need off, a week before reminder, a day before reminder and a day of reminder. All to be sent to his work email, work phone and placed on his work calendar.

Taking my 3 granddaughter to Florida today for a week or more. So will be away from the forum for awhile. Just me and the 3 girls , hope they don't drive me crazy......don't know which one of their fingers I'M wrap around more.

Know taking the 3 shopping is a trip in itself.....

You are a brave, brave man!!! But then again, you have faced down cancer, you can handle anything. I have 11 neices and nephews. I will take all 5 boys anywhere anytime, are but not more than 2 girls!! And never more than 1 boy and 1 girl together at the sametime! Wonder if it would be much better now that they all grown up with babies of their own! Which means there are 12 more kids running around, lol!!

Have fun Deerman!!

BT, if you have your boss's boss's email address, I would copy him on any information you send to your boss.

I agree your Dad doesn't need to know. He's a strong man and he'll tell you he can get through it and for you to stay at work. He needs you even if he doesn't admit it. Some of us (me) are good at covering up how much they really need other people. DO NOT let him push you away. He does need you there. I'm so glad he is taking the high road and being the fighter. Yes a lot of it is covering up because we don't want people to know how much we really do need them. His attitude is going to be 99% of the key to get him through this.

As for your boss.

I'm sorry, sometimes I can be such a B****. After fighting this battle for the last 3 years, I KNOW that attitude is what makes you survive. If you ever read the stories they publish about famous folks who who have died, a lot of them, it's after they say, that's enough, no more, and in a matter of days they are gone. Elizabeth Edwards was talking and making announcements on tv, the next she was in a coma, the next she was gone. This is gonna be me when my time comes

and this is the devil when I get there!!

(I've had several people tell me to go there so............)

You fight, and you keep fighting until your last breath!

This is the week things turn around! Chemo was reduced yesterday. Slight nausea, some sores on my head, sinus headache.

Know what? I FEEL PRETTY GOOD TODAY!!

Tomorrow I may even go to the garden store...

LOVE YOU ALL!!!
