So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

I am a newb to BYC and the chicken world and found this thread. My wife is a breast cancer survivor. Diagnosed in early January....one surgery to confirm no lymph node intrusion and to remove problem area, and 35 radiation treatments later, we are cancer free. We are in the new normal where each mammo we are holding our breath waiting for the verdict. We are very blessed that we caught it early. My wife had some weird sensations, and decided to go for a visit and it was the BEST decision she ever made.
So for those that have that "something isn't right" feeling, don't blow it off....go for a visit to whatever doc you need to. It might just save your life!

Welcome to BYC.
It is more than just chickens, Isn't it?

I think we know our bodies better than we give ourselves credit for.
I am glad it turned out well for her and you as well.

How is the nursing going?
It is going great, I actually go Saturday to take my state boards so keep your fingers crossed! I love nursing, I think it really is my calling.

Congratulations on the Cancer free verdict! That is an awesome Feeling I am sure. No lymph node invasion is an added good thing.

This is a wonderful thread! I was so surprised to find it here.

My mother is a breast cancer survivor. We found out right after my daughter was born 4 years ago. I started check-ups almost a year later after I finished breast feeding. With it being inflammatory breast cancer it's a little harder to detect. I freak out every year prior to and for a week after my mammogram.

We also lost my sister-in-law to breast cancer a little over 11 years ago.

To all those who have survived and are fighters, congratulations.

To those who have lost someone, I'm so sorry and you are in my prayers!

It it with sadness that I report the loss of Cindi, coyotemagic here on BYC, a great cheerleader on this thread and great lover of her fur and feather kiddos. Cindi battled cancer like a pro, with spunk and a kick butt determination that served her well through many challenges. Her beloved Lurchie shared that it was various other complications that took her, not the cancer; either way, Cindi would have told you all to keep on kicking butt like nobody's business! Cindi, I'm so sorry you are not here to say that yourself - you deserved to be. Hugs, J

I just saw the news myself Judy.(FB) She will be missed. If it wasn't for her spunk and determination to fight, I may not have had the courage myself. Her sense of humor helped too! RIP Cindi, may you be with all your loved furbabies frolicking in the tall grasses on a beautiful sunshiney day and FREE!

sad.

Poor Lurchie. If any of you are in contact with him, please send him my most heartfelt condolences.

I think of her often. I always will.
Thank you jj, for letting us know.
