So....talk about.....CANCER SUPPORT THREAD !!

I've been really sick last couple of days.....
I have a cold that's kicking my butt.
Asthma is in high gear at the moment.
But I did go to the doctor today and got allergy tested.
I'm allergic to cats dogs and dust mites.
I've got three dogs and two cats.......... Wife was practically in tears..... Till I told her I wasn't getting rid of them.

Ugh! The wait... Maybe we could do a fun countdown. :)

Can I bring wine to the 3….2….1?

I took a bad fall yesterday afternoon. It was stupid, really, I stepped off a chair and onto one of DS's footballs, that shouldn't have been in the kitchen in the first place. I don't know how I managed not to see the darn thing there? Shows how absent-minded I am at the moment... Thank goodness I seems I did not to do any damage to the incisions, which are healing up very nicely, but they were hurting afterwards.

Oh no! Glad you are ok, but I bet real sore.:(

Wine, champaign, yes!

:hugs. Not sure what I would do in that situation. So sorry to hear. Prayers that you feel better soon.

I ached all over after that, but it passed thankfully. I had the stitches out yesterday :) I feel so much better now… I asked the doctor what it looks like (meaning if it healed o.k. I don't want to have a dressing on any more). He says it looks better than (pointing at my shoulder scar) I said to him it's better than cancer. It's my "survival tattoo" lol

Hopefully we'll get to have champagne on on the …1

YES WE WILL!!!! I have a divot on my temple where they removed a non cancerous mole. I call it a mole hole.

The other scar on my face will sometimes have veins shoot out colors, especially when it's extremely cold or hot. It's a reminder of the fact that I made it. I used to freak out about it. Try to cover it with makeup, swoop my hair over that part of my face, (which feels very weird for anything to touch the surgery area for over a year). Then one day, I was picking DD up from school and didn't have my makeup. I just about freaked thinking her friends will be asking her all kinds of questions, maybe make fun of the little girl with the "monster mom"..I had no time to run home & get makeup. I hate wearing it anyways. When DD came out of school, she ran up just like always. I was making a big deal out of nothing.

I realized that day that I really need to watch what I am conveying to our future generations. Does it matter if people see my scar? Or ask what happened? No. It DOES matter that we show them how to be strong and proud without being fake or judgmental of others.

Can anyone tell me about Melanoma? My son who is 29 had a spot removed from his side last spring that he had for years, it turned out to be cancerous. Dermotologist removed it & considerable surrounding tissue, and felt confident that they got it all. Now he has had another spot removed on his leg. They are doing a biopsy. He has not said what the results are yet. We are very worried tho he has said the doctor does not seem to be. Hopefully this one is not cancerous. Is it possible for him to have one or two spots and never any more? If this one is cancerous what will the next step be? Both myself and my husband have a family history of cancer, although neither of us have had any except my husband had some Basal Cell Carcinoma removed. No one has had Melanoma. I had a spot removed several years ago that they thought was Melanoma, but it was not cancerous. I know Melanoma can be very dangerous but I have also read that it is pretty common among young adults, so I don't know what the stats are or anything. Has anyone had experience with this that they could share?
