So there I was.....

..... mowing along and minding my business. Wondering if I'd find or see the aftermath of a missing cockerel since yesterday. Stopped the mower to move a hard plastic rubbermaid watering dish that was upside down, and had been for about a week, went to go grab it and thought, seems a little heavier than I thought, and out pops a 4 month old cockerel that's been missing..... looking like a drowned rat! Stupid birds......


This is the bowl next to my size 11 flip flop, the other is 5 min after I found him, and no not a banni.....

That is not a regular bowl. It's a stand for a 50 pound square of salt that we farmers buy for the livestock! They are pretty big. What a crazy rooster!

Totally happened to me once, too, with this lady. She was four weeks old and this picture was taken at about the same time. I was using one of those corner litter boxes some people use for rabbits as a temporary bowl and they tipped it right over on her. I was convinced she was gone, then right before I gave up, I thought to check the impossible, which turned out to be not so impossible.

So I was informed that that dish was leaning on their run about 6 feet away, so apparently he knocked it over on himself and then scootched it across the yard.....

Lucky they were still alive. It's not funny when they are found long after they died, trapped in one thing or another.
