So this happened today....

I wonder if the "paint," girl could be a mix of two mixes?

Looks just like I imagine my California Whites would if they were a bit... fluffier haha. And seeing as they're mixes all on their own, she might just be a perfect barnyard mix.

I am thinking these fellows had the same rooster father but may have come from different hens... Must check out the pics to see if they have unusually large nostrils, which is a trait of the Spitzhauben... You should count the toes, too. Silkies have 5 toes.

Maybe it was an honest mistake as far sexing them went. If you have ever seen purebred Silkies you could have called that yourself. They are still pretty cool though. My sister has a bunch of chickens with watered down Silkie genes and I love going and seeing what kind of crazy looking babies they make. I figure they will start getting crazy after a while and looking like feral hens. If he did lie I have no idea why. Whenever my sister needs to downsize on roosters she just takes them to the flea market and sells them as roosters and they go. I put roosters on Craigslist and my phone rings off the hook.

Maybe I’m crazy but I don’t even see why just being honest and saying Silkie mix would have mattered. They are fluffy and cute. Ugh. The flee market is ridiculous. I guess then they would not have cost $80. I get it.

Yeah I have never seen a purebred in person and these had all the look and I’m still learning and was worried about expanding my flock before the two roosters I already had got bad. The fourth Wilkie mix is a roo too:( so that makes five Roos and 3 hens i have to do something.
