So we're going to try & make a formal dress *Latest Pics Post #101*

I would search the net for a step by step video of how to put a zipper in. I am sure they have one somewhere. I would go with the side zipper.

Next not to put a damper on you hatching and keeping the chicks in the room your sewing in BUT and this is a big BUT, chicks have dust, bad dust does not go good with a sewing machine and fine fabric. Don't ask me how I found this out.

It's your choice but thought I would mention it. The expensive of fixing those fancy machines can get pretty high. Not to mention all that hard work just to see that beautiful dress full of dust.

Sorry, but felt I had to mention it.

Ok, I've watched several videos on zipper installation, it doesn't look as hard as I thought. Thank you all so much!!! I think a center back zipper will be best, as if I mess it up a bit, I can always cover it with a big bow or something.

Last night I ripped apart an old Halloween costume so I could have some fabric for the top liner, cut it out and pinned it down and today am ready to attach it.

I have an old dress with a perfect black zipper but I can't find my seam ripper to get it out... any other suggestions? I might be able to stop by Walmart tonight and get another... but I might not too..
I'm not 100% convinced to do a zipper... I really like the idea of lacing up some thick ribbon made from the pink of the skirt too...

SO MANY CHOICES!!

Ok.. progress... top is lined (attached in the V only at this point)
I got a pucker at the corner of the V.. not sure what to do so I think I'll gather just a touch more and I added the sparkley jewels
Darts are sewn?gathered? but not finished so I could tweak it
Then I cut & wrapped the skirt & pinned
Same with the sheer overlay
Pinned on the trim

This is hopefully what it will MOSTLY look like. Still need to do the outside areas of the bodice, I don't want the straps that thick

How am I doing so far??? I know I would wear it... DD will be home in an hour to judge for herself

Before you turned your lining right side out did you trim and clip the point? That might help. Take a pick of it right sides together for us... right at that point.
