I won't address the marriage thing, because my personal beliefs are that you aren't entitled to anything from another person regardless of if you are married or not. I'd walk away from everything and start over.
I would love to see your "Research" about children doing badly without both parents. This aspect of it I will call you on. How does your "Research" respond to people such as Barack Obama or Micheal Phelps? Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, now our US president? Phelps won eight gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. Lets not forget Tour de France-winning cyclist Lance Armstrong, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, and actor Benjamin Bratt -- all grew up in single-parent households.
I raise my daughter alone. Is there a risk she will turn out to be an ax-wielding psychopath? Of course. But it's not a risk inherent in the single-parent family. You can't assume that every child raised by a single parent is going to have difficulties. The majority don't. It's one of my pet peeves that people assume non traditional families can't raise children as well as a kid who has a mom and a dad. What's important is not whether they are raised by one or two parents. It's how good is the relationship with the parent, how much support they're getting from that parent and how harmonious the environment is. It doesn't matter if you have only one parent, two parents, two parents of the same sex, are raised by your grand parents or other family members. All that matters is the child is loved, supported, and nurtured.
By the way, John Wayne Gacy grew up with both parents. Just sayin.
