all the great chef's use duck eggs for baking they are richer and make desserts taste richer that's the whole reason I got ducks.

Not willing to get excited here. I got my ducks last spring and neither of the females has ever laid an egg. I suppose there's the chance that they weren't mature enough yet. I got them when they were two weeks old so I really do know how old they are. Maybe this spring? I hope!

I can't wait for my kids to start laying eggs again! Last year I got only a small handfull and never discovered who the layer was. I know that all of my girls, except maybe five of my muscovies, are old enough to lay. The only reason I doubt my other girls is because they were hatched late in the season and are no where near the size of my other muscovy hens. But on the other hand they are all at least 7 months old, so we'll see.
Once things warm up I am going to be building some outdoor breeding pens for my kids so I can make sure we have lots of grandchildren

my ducks haven't laids yet, they were hatched in last summer, so it'll be exciting. My ducks live a rather pampered life and i wonder how surprised they'll be when they lay that first egg, lol... My fiance calls them free loaders too.... He's says the better start laying eggs or learn trip to make their keep. lol

how old are scovies when they can breed??

I've got a white hen, I dunno how old she is, she was fully feathered when i got her, my five ducklings JUST got thier flight feathers. the 3 drakes are almost bigger than my little older hen.

I'm looking forward to some of the ducklings I'll get, Lyra my cayuga amd Mojo, my blue and white mutt duck have been "dating" xD, they've been hanging around one enother alot xD
