So who's in lockdown right now? and what are you hatching?

Totally off-topic Fairybee, but are you getting any effects from the volcano eruption? Ash has started to come down in Scotland although I haven't seen any here, but there is a really strong smell of sulphur in the air.

nope none here just very dull and cloudy so may get something later im keeping my eye on it though so i can bring my rabbits in if we do get anything

Still pips & no pop...I've been told that that first to pip is NEVER the first out & so far I would have to agree with them. I had one pip yesterday, then nothing.....I woke up this morning to 2 maybe three more pips, but that's it so far.

The pips are from my BLRW eggs, but what I REALLY want to hatch out is the blue & black cochins! Here's hoping I come home from work to chicks chirping in the 'bator. This is the first time I've hatched without the aid of an egg carton due to the low clearance in my octagon 20.

BTW- good luck to all of you across the pond with the volcanic disruptions.

so for my first hatching............failed baby goose pipped but then it just kinda stopped the temperture was good humidity was nearly 87% but it just kinda gave up and then this green goo stuff came out i phoned the lady that i had the egg off she told me it wasnt a good sign and to pick away carefully a little bit of shell but the goslling had alreagy died

she said it must have been too weak to hatch and the shell was way thick it was way thicker than any shell i have even seen on a goose egg so frm 6 eggs 1 damaged on arrival and one that i tryed to save with wax that had small cracks never started 4 started 1 quit about day 4 one about day 14 and one during lockdown about day 27 and then no hatch after all that i was even misting it evey 2 hours to make sure the humidity stayed just right

Okay I've had one BLRW hatch & what a ruckouse she's causing.. I had 3 eggs sectioned off in the back that (I thought) were 4-5 days behind. She somehow vaulted herself over the divider & was flappin around over there. She did get her out so I figured "no harm no fowl"............bad pun.... anyway about 10-15 minutes later I looked in the back and saw that one of the little eggs were cracked. I'm thinking -great- she broke an egg back there & the chick's dead. Not so- the chick is still attached to the egg by what I can only assume is the umbilical cord (yellowish thing) but here he is:

Here they both are. BLRW on the left:

Here's a pic of the BLRW when she popped out of her shell. TOO freakin Cute!!!

I'm really worried about the other eggs that are getting rolled around quite a bit.....should I be?

oooooh so cute!

I am so excited cant believe it it is pipping out tonight when I got home. I left one turkey egg the rest not fertile this one was all black so I kept it hatch date is sunday.

So sorry that you have no fluffy goslings to enjoy, Fairybee, and I hope you have MUCH better luck next time!

I have about two dozen chicken eggs in lockdown with a few more under a broody. All due in the next few days. I have just moved the last lot to hatch from the house to the shed, so this evening I have no chicks inside to fuss over and no eggs to turn. It seems strangely hands-off, and a little boring, to be frank. Where is the cheeky rooster baby that usually hatches early on day 19? I need some action around here! But I guess everyone waiting for chicks feels the same way!
