I did that with milk once! I swore I had a pint of milk and forgot I used it making soap for Christmas. I had to use powdered milk.

I making a lavender and peppermint soap soap tonight along with lavender and another almond.

Oh goodie! I also have a Scent Works order coming in a few days. The last time I ordered from them, it was also right after you had received yours, Morgaine. We both got the same sniffies that time so perhaps it'll be the same this time as well. What did you order this time from them? I ordered more of the Yuzu and also a blood orange scent that got good reviews at the scent review board. The citrus scents sell VERY well, so I thought I'd give that one a try since I didn't yet have any orange scents in the line. I'd love to try an orange EO - Do you all recommend a particular one? I realize I'll likely have to use an anchor with it.

I ordered 2 #'s of the black raspberry cream. It sold out so fast I thought I better order more. It does smell great. I also went a head and ordered some silk too. Let me know what you think of the blood orange, taht one sounds interesting. I have some sweet orange eo from EOU. Smells great! That's the only one I have tried though so I can't compare. You really need to try lemongrass, it is so good. I'm going to add lime and black pepper to my next EOU order and do MLF pepper zest.

I agree. That Black Raspberry does smell delicious! I have the little sniffy sitting right in front of me at the computer and I just have to pick it up and take a whiff from time to time.

What are you using to anchor the sweet orange?

Really, I love all the citrus, so I'll be adding little by little as well. I agree with insiderart, scent buying can be addicting!

One of the favorite fragrance combos in my family is a Vanilla Almond.
I use 1 oz Almond fragrance oil AND 2 oz of EVO suffused with vanilla bean for each pound of soap.
For a simple orange citrus...I use 2 oz of Orange EO from my health food store with 1 TBS of Tea Tree oil for a 2 pound batch. I also use dehydrated orange peal with this bar. This bar retains the orange scent well.

I am thinking of doing a orange and lemongrass soap. I was going to use benonite clay to anchore the orange in a white and the lemongrass since it goes yellowish orange in a swirl together. I don't have any patchouli or litsea so when I do it I'll give updates.

I soaped the lavender peppermint last night. Smells nice but I had a brain fart and added lavender buds instead of peppermint leaves so now I have mouse poop soap, I usually chop the buds up.

This moning I soaped Sun ripe Raspberry from Southern Garden Scents, smells great but DO NOT use any kind of water discount. I soaped with a 30% lye solution and this stuff set up fast! I hand stirred the scent in too. I've had rebatched soap pour smoother than this. It went into full gell within 20 minutes. I soaped at my normal temps (95-100) with my normal recipe. The sandalwood Yland soaped great and smells like a million bucks. Love this one!

Morgaine, you said: "I was going to use benonite clay to anchore the orange in a white and the lemongrass since it goes yellowish orange in a swirl together."

Can you explain to me this anchoring of Orange or other citrus EOs?

By the way, you live just up the road from me. I'm in Spring.

Orange and other citrus scents fade vey quickly in CP soaps but Lemongass is an exception because it isn't a citrus. When I used orange in a test batch it faded and with in a week it was gone and I soaped it at 1 oz ppo. I did the test batch to see if it was true and it did dissapear on me. I'm not really sure why they fade, but it seems like the most common ways to anchor it are patchouli and litsea eo and benonite clay. It helps keep the orange scent. Here is a link to the teach soap site, it talks a tiny bit about it.

I don't know why they fade though.

Spring is kinda north of houston by 45 right?
