Soap Makers Help!

Yep, that's the place. In the swap I sent the 3x5 sized bargs, but for my regular bars I use the 4x6 bags. Finger's crossed that weather stays good!

couldn't resist and i unmolded one of yesterdays bars. i got all 6 sides looking good...before i had 5 out of 6...leaving the top open. i read on here about a lid on molds...so i tried it with plastic. was't sure if it should be air tight or not (nice not knowing the rules so i don't have to follow them) i overfilled the mold so that i had to squeeze excess out. i cheated also by throwing it into the freezer to firm it up so i wouldn't mess up the bar...i had tried earlier using heat to do that but that got to be a sticky mess...so should hardening soap really be able to breath and is it ok to freeze it?

i'm sort of a mad scientist when i'm allowed into the kitchen...plus i run with scissors

I'm not real sure what you are saying. You soap will firm up no matter what you do to it. Putting it into the freezer will help to prevent the soap from gelling, but won't firm it up. When you say you used heat and it turned into a sticky mess, I'm wondering if you mean it started to gel? Do you know about the different stages the soap goes through? I'm all for exploring and being creative with soap, but I also think you need to have a basic understanding of what you are doing.

I've been so busy helping my neighbour move that I haven't made any soap the lat few days... I really need to get back to it but I am way to tired today and I don't want to make any mistakes because of that. I'll have to get going on it tomorrow first thing in the morning. The forecast is staying good for Saturday out here.

I think as long as your not doing long term storage in plastic you're fine. For lemongrass I used .5 oz ppo and it makes a very strong scent and will drop it to .3 oz ppo next time.

You don't have to do that

How much are you charging for it? When did you start labeling your soap for the FM? Like how many days in advance or did ou wait till the day before? How do display the prices? Or do you just tell them how much if they ask you? Sorry I am asking so many questions but I want to be as prepared as possible for Saturday

DH thinks I should write all the prices down on poster board but I have terrible hand writting.

MLF, DH has used up almost all of the soap you sent for the swap. The bar is really getting thin. Do you have any more that I could buy for him? That is his favorite soap still.

MullersLaneFarm: On the MMS form you said "I really love Lavender and Vanilla together". Would the mixture be half lavender and half vanilla?

I bought one of those dry erase boards and put my prices on that each day. It's 4.50 for a 1-4 bars (each) and then I do 5 for 20 o 5 or more bars for 4 each. Sampler packs are 10 and the little soap samples are .50 each. A lot of people use a black board and I think those look nicer than my dry erase one.

I usually label the soap about a week before hand. None of them have stayed around long enough to get loose, even the plain ole soaps are still on there good. I've labled the night before and there is no difference, just do it when you can.

CW, if we do another swap, I'll put one in there for ya. No problem.

Yup, It is my Pepper Zest and I have this in stock.

I split my batch in half and scented one with lavender eo and the other half with vanilla, the poured in 2 layers.

Odd though .... the lavender side disappeared faster than the vanilla side ... wonder why?
