Soap Makers Help!

NanaKat, those rebatches look great!

I've only tried rebatching twice. The second time it didn't quite turn out. The soap is extremely soft, still useable but really soft. I'm guessing I used to much liquid.
I think I will attempt another rebatch today. I have some cucumber on the rack that needs to be done. I'm also going to attempt bath melts today. Can you tell I'm out of lye...lol.

What are bath melts? You don't need lye for that? I still haven't cut my last rebatch. It is to squishy. I have had the log siting out for a couple of weeks now and its just to squishy to even try. The outside is firmer then what it was but when you squezze it you can just tell you shouldn't cut it.

I put it through the lye calculator at MMS, Soap Calc, and SBM, using the lye/water measurements from SBM. Used a digital scale. When I poured the soap into the mold the temp was about 115 degrees, it was thicker than water but had no globs in it and poured smoothly. The oil temp was 110 and lye solution was 110 when I combined them.

I used water for the liquid and for oils I used 14 oz. Olive, 8.61 oz. Coconut, and 6.46 oz. Lard. The pringle can was completely full with a slight dome on top. I noticed the soap was gelling at the same time the crack appeared.

Some people call them tub truffles or bath chocolates. They are pretty easy to make, using cocoa/shea butters, a little oil and EO/FO, and putting into molds. If they work out I'll post the recipe. I'm just trying to add things to my line so I have more to offer at our FM, especially when I'm low on soap. I also found what looks to be a good basic bubble bath recipe that I will be trying today or tomorrow - how does a cucumber bubble bath sound??

That sounds great! I'll take a bubble bath all the time if I had it.

I have 273 bars ready to go to the FM. I just need to sit down and print out labels for them. That should be good for the first couple of market days as long as it goes smoothly. I'm really not sure what to expect as far as a response to the soaps when I get there since they have never had a soaper there before.
What do you think about the amount? Do you think that it will last two or three weeks?

The recipe looks good. I ran it myself and see nothing in the recipe that would suggest that the recipe was imbalanced, assuming you put in the correct amount of lye for that recipe. Did you use a water discount of any kind? I usually soap my recipes closer to 100 - 105 degrees but many recipe recommend temps of 110 - 115, so that shouldn't be a problem. Did you bang the can on the counter after pouring? I wonder if you got a bubble in there that surfaced during gel. If that was the case, I wonder if it'd only be on the top of the soap and not all the way through. Did you unmold yet?

Depending on the size of your market, I would think that number of bars would hold for you for a few weeks. It's likely you'll go through some scents and will need to soap again soon to replace your stock. You'll have a better idea after your first day. Are you getting excited?

I'll be soaping again either later tonight or tomorrow. I'm still nervous, espeacially since I have not received my info they are supposed to be mailing out. It also includes a map with the approximate location of my space. I am excited though. I really want to see how this goes. I'm nervous and excied to see the response I get from the customers. I'm going to take lots of pictures to pst on here and FB, Blogger, and Twitter lol.
