Soap Makers Help!

Yeah, I had to use the big ones for my salt bars, they were all 6-7 oz. The only thing I didn't like was there was a lot of room on the top because the bars were 3.5x4 and the bags were 7 tall.. But it was ok.

I found a large stack of brand-new wash cloths and decided to try my hand at making a soap-pocket for my soaps....

You should have seen my 6 y/o DD.... She now wants me to make her pink ones... guess I'll have to spend a fortune on a pink wash cloth to get 4 out of it....

I was going to order the muslin bags but I had a lady ask for something to keep in the shower and I didn't like the idea of a muslin bag so with my wonderful find from unpacking 3 y/o boxes from our move to KY, I decided to try my hand at making a pocket to slide the soap in....

I think instead of hand sewing them, I'll break out the ole sewing machine and see how they come out on it... I know doing it that way will be faster.... I'll have to take pics to show you all....

I was going to, but haven'y gotten around to it. I've read that if you use sodium lactate that it makes the soap much smoother. I don't think you discount the water at all either because you loose a lot during the cook.

I just got off the phone with with the auto guy it will be less than $400 to fix! I guess it blew a spark plug and coil pack. I should be able to pick it up after tomorrow! Thank God! I was worried we would need to buy another car if that was going to be too much to fix it for what it would be worth.

OK, now the soap question. I have a batch of lavender with oatmeal and goat's milk that I made just before I left, but it's not sellable the way it is now because somehow the foam liner moved and the soap got behind it making them funny shaped. I'm going to chop it up and make a couple of batches of confetti soap, but I'm wondering what scent. I'd like to make it with eo's, here is what I have
Orange
Lemongrass
Peppermint
patchouli
rosemary
anise
eucalyptus
spearmint
or I thought about lavender and rose geranium. Pink soap with tan chunks. WDYT? any sugestions? I also thought about a purple soap with tan chunks.

I must have been too tired when I first read this, you say you used carrot juice, was that all the liquid or just enough for color? Fresh or store bought? It's a great earthy color, perfect for your pumpkin.

I'm glad to hear the car will be OK!! That's wonderful! I tested my camera today and it looks like it still works after its swim in a river in Hawaii. Yay!

Here's a list of fragrances that blend well with lavender:

You can do testers to see what blends well - just put a few drops on a cotton ball or coffee filter, close it up, then check it in a while. Then once you decide on a blend, you'll know what color to make it.

Wow! That's a lot of soap to make and they're so lovely as well!

ametauss - Can't wait to see the pix of your washcloth pockets!

chiknwhisperer - Nope. I haven't tried HP soap yet. Are you going to try it?

I still haven't soaped, but perhaps tomorrow. I really need to get going on this!

All...and I use an organic canned carrot juice...blue label....cannot remember name and I raided the recycle bin to see....but DH actually went to recycle center (yay dh) this morning!! I have used orange juice also....comes out more lemon colored.

Yeah, glad the camera is still good. I have been sleeping on and off most of today. I'll soap tonight. I should be getting my new molds this week,

I just have to decide what I want the first batches to be!
