How you getting the pretty edges?
Its a cutter thing that I got that has a rippled edge, it was something that I got to hang on the wall but now it does both.......I will have to take a pic or find one to show you.
LOL, yeah you can use all kinds of stuff. I even used a jello mold & made little car soaps......Let me see if I still have pics here.

That depends on your recipe. The amount of lye is based on the oils used in the soap...each oil has a different saponification number because some oils are solid and some are liquid.... I have some recipes for the soaps I gave you that I will share as well as a basic soap recipe.

Wow... How long does soap need to set up? Before it is usable?
Some of these question have got to seem funny... Some things I do really good with simple instruction, others I have to have the visual hands on...Blonde by nature!

Some soap recipes heat up very hot...I would stick to a glass pan for your first batch or silicone molds instead of rubber set on a cookie sheet .
NEVER use anything aluminum....it melts (eatten by the lye)
An old wooden drawer lined with plastic or freezer paper works great too and is a better insulator.
Mine were hard plastic jello molds......I think I will let Nanakat answer this one because some have had molds melt & I'm sure it has to do with the heating up of the recipe. Honey, milk & Fragrance oils will make it heat up.
Some soap recipes heat up very hot...I would stick to a glass pan for your first batch or silicone molds instead of rubber set on a cookie sheet .
