Soap Makers Help!

Hello Soapers ! I want to make soap too !! I have been reading the posts on this thread for three days and i am only on page 182 !!! I cheated and looked at page 547 today and was so happy to see some of the same posters. Tonight i am rendering 5 pounds of beef tallow. I didn't cut it up very small so it has been in the oven at 200 for 5 hours, thinking of leaving it all night. I hope to make a batch of soap this weekend. Reading this thread has been so much fun, but GOLLY i have a lot more reading to do.

I have sold an entire log to a person who wanted really big bars. I let it cure for 8 weeks instead of the normal 4 but he was very happy with it, lol. It was a 3 pounds bar lol

DanLeaAnn, I live in Hempstead too!!

Yeah Morgaine !! I knew we were close based on some the places you have mentioned

We just moved up here from Cypress, not a long distance move, but living out in the country is WAY different from living in a subdivision. We love it ! So far we have chickens, but the kids are itching for more. Can't wait to make soap !

M&P is melt and pour. There's hot process and cold process soaps...I know my mom likes the bigger bars I have made but they were around 5-6 oz. I usually make mine around 4 oz but with my new mold I might be tempted to make at least 5 oz. bars but none over 6
