Soap makers Soap SWAP!

I'm thinking about joining this. I have some goat milk based lye soap I made during the holidays. It works great but im still in learing process I would want to make some more special soap for the swap, but I wont have any more goat milk til about middle of march. I guess I could just do a water based. Im also guess this is for Lye based soaps only (as apposed to glycerine or whatever) too.. I haven't seen anyone ask that question so that must be a given.

if you want to send a glycerine soap? go ahead.. it is a swap and it is still homemade.. not store bought. It will add variety to our swap.

When might we know how many bars to send? Is there a deadline for sighn up or sighn up till the time to mail the soap out? I'm just wondering so I can make sure I have enough on hand for the swap.

lets do sign ups till Feb 28th 2009 I will update the first page

Yeah I'm in. The soaps curing as we speak. I used the silicone cupcake molds (not round) and have 18 shaped soaps. My daughter is wishing for one, but I told her she had to wait until after the swap to see if there was anything left. I don't think they are a full 4 ounces, but they sure are pretty. Is that okay?

I made a soap last night that I will be unmolding later tonight. I just hope it turns out okay and isn't all scratchy. I really really hope its good enough to send.

Okay...I may have to do this. I have a freezer full of goats milk. I gave away all I had made for Christmas gifts. Everyone is already asking for more, so it can't be all that bad. I've only made goats milk and honey, but would like to try a dry skin bar with coconut oil and oatmeal. Depending on the timeline (I'll have to go look at a calendar) I may be able to join. Letcha know.

I made some with goat milk and honey and oatmeal it was great. I also made a bunch of gylcerine, goat milk, honey, Gylcerine and green tea, all sorts of stuff with goat milk and gylcerine, its really great soap, really good for your skin and face.

Everyone will make bars for everyone in the group. Including yourself (makes it easier on me) you will send me your bars and a return label with paid postage in the box you send them in..

I will repack each box you send me with others soaps and send the mixed soaps back to you using your return label and postage.

It might be easier depending on how many people sign up to just pay for a small flat rate priority box and be done with it.

When I did the quilt block swap people sent SASE but I still had to pay out of pocket to mail some envelopes back as the return weight was insufficient for postage already paid.

That's a good idea beacause it seems like everyone's bars are going to be different sizes. I would hate for you to have to pay since you are taking the time to host this swap.
