Part of healing is getting closure.
Not 1 official will even Respond to me.
Per their FAD emergency manual, conclusive test results from national regulatory lab.
They will NOT produce anything in writing as far as what disease & what strain.
Newcastle is not harmful to humans.
They used influenza on the warrant as probable cause.
I want answers....

Send it all to the news station that was coming out. I had to do that to get a home repair done properly. It won't bring your birds back, but it should, at least, hold those who made and carried out the poor decisions accountable so it won't happen to anyone else. And someone owes you some money!

For now, the priority needs to be on improving rather than ending mandatory euth. Kerri is seeking a lawyer to write what appears to be an injunction to stop the practice, but it likely will take months for even a preliminary hearing. She should still try, but given who and what she's up against, it could well get thrown out at that stage.

Among things that can be done immediately:

1) Put a tarp around the CO2 operation, or localize it inside a van outfitted for that purpose.
2) Badge temp workers by at least a wearable number/identifier.
2) Provide more info. Identify positives by cross street, just as PD logs do. Release the exact strains of Newcastle tested for and the results for seized/euthed birds, too.
3) Offer people a choice: Let people cull at their expense. The state doesn't really want this, so their alternative can be offering to come out, pay for euthed poultry, and kill them out of line of sight.

This would be a massive improvement.

Kerri, as well as like hundreds of people have done this. The silence by the news outlets, elected officials, animal rights groups, so many others has been deafening.
Like someone here said, the only thing that's really moving this news along right now and is different than the 2003 outbreak is the power of social media. Its putting a tiny bit of heat on state/fed but not enough. One of their reactions is to stop giving people notice they are coming because people are moving their birds. Social media's contributing to that too.

Politicians do not like to be noticed for their failures to take care of their constituents. who do we let know that we've noticed their failure to protect their voters and set a dangerous precedent for the rest of us?

Yeah I would think it would be all of our elected officials.
The CDFA Secretary is a cabinet position
US Senators, US Representatives, State Senators, State Representatives.

State and federal representatives and senators as well as local officials. Kerri contacted her representative and got a handwritten note saying the rep (Melendez) was disturbed and would be following up by meeting with officials next week.

The state's PR, so far, will only mean less people reporting to sick bird hotline and more people "swatting" their enemies that way. Fewer birds will go to the vet for diagnosis. More birds will be moved.

This all is what the state does not want, and it's occurring not just because the state is doing this, but HOW the state is doing this.

I said I wondered if the mayor asked Dr Jones to show PROOF of her statements? That’s what everyone is upset about.
The APHIS site has consistently shown approximately 2 new vnd cases in San Bernardino Co and one new case in Riverside Co a week. These folks are in Riverside Co. So Dr. Jones' statements dont seem to match the number of cases they are reporting to the public.
On the APHIS site they should show what CITY, not county, to be transparent.

When CDFA/USDA first approached Kerri in December 2018, she clearly stated she would not give permission for them to come on her property...
Five months later (Good Friday), CDFA/USDA came with a signed warrant.

I'll tell you what I find disturbing, IF someone in the same scenario was wrong about their birds not being contaminated or IF a single bird who evaded examination was infected or IF such a person was harboring sick birds out of stubbornness or some wacky conspiracy theory or because they planned to fight them and thought they didn't have much time left anyway or didn't think they could afford to replace them or any reason really, 5 months is a l-o-n-g window for someone else's flock to get contaminated.

This is a terrible situation for all of us in the quarantine zone. Kerri's individual case may have been handled very badly, but I don't think, in principle, taking the selfish position that an individual and their flock is more important than all the other flocks who can get infected is helpful or supportable. Nor is it practical given the number of individual flock-owners and commercial operations that are vulnerable and need protecting.
