I logged on just to check on you, Carri. I'm glad that the fires are not too close to you. Thankfully, with the Santa Ana's, the winds would send it toward the coast and away from you. We're safe from the fires, but the smoke here is pretty bad. I'm headed to church in a few minutes and that is near the foothills. I'm sure it's going to be quite unpleasant out there tonight. I have a good friend who lives in the hills of Orange. Just about every year they get evacuated.

For those of you who aren't familiar with all of this. When the weather gets like this, the humidity drops so low. Combine that with our low rain levels the rest of the year and this is ripe for disaster.

I'm near the coast and at 4pm, it's 90 degrees and 6% humidity. It is soooooo dry! What do you guys (Debi and Carri and whoever else is experiencing this) have as far as heat and humidity right now?

We always have very low humidity here. If it gets to 10% it's humid to us, so we are always in fire danger here. The temp here today was 76. It was gorgeous here.

Since birds are so very sensitive, I wonder what effect all the smoke will have on them??

I pray God will keep everyone safe and that they will catch the arsonists.

Sounds nice, Debi! I'm jealous!

Because I'm close to the coast, the humidity is usually quite a bit more than what we have today. At this time of the day we're usually getting offshore breezes. We don't have the winds right now (either offshore or Santa Anas), but there can be quite a difference between the wind here and the wind 15 miles inland.

70 MPH winds here is a mild breeze.

I don't know if you know the area but it started out at Green River on the 91/71 and it's jumped the freeways and has gone in several directions. Earlier, there was a huge cloud along with several tiny clouds, but it's all the same mess now.
They are telling us to stay inside because of the air quality. DUH.

I went to canyon High School in Anaheim Hills and lived right off of Lincoln & Glassell. I know the area really well.

OK, so you know exactly what I'm talking about! The mountains at Green River are all on fire and I'm pretty sure the mountains across the 71 from Prado Dam are, too. I think that's the fire that wrapped around the back side of golf course and burned down those houses up on the hill.
I can see the Green River mountains from my house, but everything else is either blocked by trees or another house.
