I put mine on the outside about 6 years ago. Have had no problems, and have the small bonus of another hiding place for the chickens’ cat.Quick question, would it be better to put chicken wire inside or outside of the soffit vent in the coop?
Neither.Quick question, would it be better to put chicken wire inside or outside of the soffit vent in the coop?
I would but money is a factor right now and we still have to build the runNeither.
I'd put 1/2" hardware cloth outside and put trim board over it to help really secure it.
Yes that’s what we have, 1/2” HC, i was thinking the same thing, so it doesn’t look like “oh shoot i forgot that”I put them inside, so the exterior looks cleaner and less like an afterthought. Chicken wire would probably work fine as not many predators could get there, but I went with 1/2" HC so no small rodent could pass through.

Good enough to climb a vertical wall and hold on while it breaks through chicken wire covering a 3.5” gap?The problem with chicken wire even up high is the raccoons are great climbers.
