I read somewhere you shouldn't give ACV when it is hot out, but I don't know why.

For my chicken having the issue in addition to oyster shell, I am supplementing with manna pro egg maker and topping off the oyster shell with some crushed tums.
I also find that my chickens prefer eggs shells to the oyster shell. I offer both. Maybe that would help with the duck eggs?

I never offered them their shells! Do you just crush them up?

The acidity in the vinegar can inhibit the calcium absorption necessary to produce eggs with strong shells. Adding ACV to water is best done in cooler months months when hens are not under heat stress.

Yes I let them dry out and then crush them.

Calcium citrate or calcium gluconate is another way to get good quality calcium into them. Offer on peas mixed with a little water. Or dried meal worms.
