Soft shell?

I found this this morning in a nesting box where one of my hens have been laying. I have 9 hens 3 are laying daily and the other 6 are not laying yet. They are 5 months old last weekend.

The first photo is how I found it and the second is after I had touched the shell to see what it felt like. The shell felt like soft plastic was not hard at all and very easy to manipulate (I did not touch long)

I have cleaned that box out and replaced the hay.

Do I have a sick hen or just an early lay of an egg? First year of raising chickens.

For such beginners, this happens as a matter of course from time to time. But it would be a good idea to try to identify the one who laid this. A little extra calcium would benefit her and get her system on the right track.

If you're in the US, you can find the calcium I recommend at Walmart. Give one whole tablet once a day for a few days.
