Soft sided eggs from my Wyandotte?

see the video I just posted about the occasional soft-sided eggs we are getting these days from our silver-laced wyandotte.

they get oyster shell in their feed, free range our large yard every afternoon, and have extra oyster shell available.

the other Seven hens have solid, thick shelled eggs. Just the wyandotte... and not every time.

There are other causes. She may have an immature or defective shell gland, for example. If she is a new layer, it may be part of the maturing process for her. She may have more need for some nutrient than the others. Those are just some of the possibilities.

Soft sided eggs can also be the result of hot weather. Wyandotte generally feel the heat more so than breeds with straight or star combs.
