Well with the weirdest chicken laws ever in my state (I can go into further detail if you want) A 8x8 coop could hold 25 chickens (going by 2.5 sqft per bird) and that's a lot of space for the 4 chickens I'm planning to own.if you make it 5x5...you will have to buy an 8 foot 2x4 and cut it. i would just make it 8x8, with 12 foot rafters. the cost will be the same as if you make it 5x5 since you can’t buy a 5 foot 2x4
Which is awfully tight space.(going by 2.5 sqft per bird)
I thought the rule is 2 to 3 sqft per chicken in the coop and 8 sqft per chicken in the run. How much space do you give per chicken?Which is awfully tight space.
Yes, the 4/10 is the most popular recommendation now,I thought the rule is 2 to 3 sqft per chicken in the coop and 8 sqft per chicken in the run. How much space do you give per chicken?
Well If I build an 8x8 coop that would mean plenty of space for the 3- 4 chickens im planning to start out withYes, the 4/10 is the most popular recommendation now,
but even that can be too small depending on climate and run.
