Sold to me as baby chicks

Thank you! I really wanted an Ameraucana cuz I thought I had one in my flock that’s one year now. Those were sold to me as Ameraucana’s but learned in here I could not get one for $5 from a feed store. This one I bought from a breeder who brought in the chicks from McMurray and sold for $20 to me as Ameraucana. From the price I thought it was so. Oh well! now I have 3 EE’s. My 2 older give me a blue and a green. My 20 weeks whiting true green gives me a darker green so now I have 2 green and 2 blue so far blue all
my browns and 2 white eggs from my leghorns😀

That's such a fun, colorful egg basket! Generally if you're buying an 'ameraucana' it should be a color. If they can't say 'these are black ameraucana chicks' and just 'these are ameraucana chicks' they're probably EEs. Also if the chicks have a chipmunk striped, brown pattern, they are usually EEs.

It seems common that sellers try to pass off EEs as Ameraucanas to get a higher price. Some even misspell the name just enough that a lot of people won’t notice (like “Americana” or “Ameracuana”), taking advantage of the fact that a lot of people can’t spell it right anyway and won’t notice. Then, if caught, the seller can claim they’re not really scamming you because technically they’re not selling you Ameraucanas.
