Hey all! New chicken mom here (gift from the father in law at only seven hours old) I just have the one chick, very much a house chicken. I say roo, husband says hen. Any ideas? I only have the one so I've got nothing to compare too. Four weeks old.

Looks like a buff brahma bantam, tho.

He/she often walks with the tail feathers up, that's one of the reasons I think rooster. Plus there are some pretty puffy neck feathers. I'm so eager to know the gender!

Since you mentioned not having anyone to compare with - here's my light brahma pullet at 4 weeks. She tended to have a very upright posture, too. However, she had a little less comb at that age than your chick has. Time will tell! Enjoy - they grow up soooo fast!

Your Brahma is too young to sex with any accuracy at this point. I would suggest re-posting its pic in 3-4 weeks. By then its gender should be more obvious.

I figured that might be the case... Doesn't matter really, it is family now
