Most of the chicks I hatched had clear wings. A couple did have some smut, not a lot though. Ive been told they molt around 3 times before they get their adult colors, so that smut could possibly molt out.

I dont think mine got darker as they filled out. I had one girl that had very light wings as a chick, and now she is a light shade of clear buff.

Not really sure. Just wait and see how the chick turns out. Look here, http://www.hattricksilkies.net/buff.html, they have buff silkies in all different shades of buff, from light to dark. I just got into buff silkies a little over a year ago, and am constantly learning.

In the group picture of my silkies, the pullet in the middle is a very light shade of clear buff, while all of the others are alot darker.
