Some people! A vent about selling eggs

He might not understand that regular chicken eggs are not the same as the grocery type. There are a lot of folks out there who have no idea all the different types of chickens. I would just explain, in a nice way, what type of eggs your chickens lay. The ones in the store are bred to look a certain way..but those are not the type of hens you have. You WANT the speckled and different colored eggs. Some of them are different sizes..etc.

I had that happen once. I have only 2 white leghorn hens. They lay huge white eggs. So for each dozen eggs, I can pretty much put 1 or 2 of these big ol white eggs. Somebody said they only wanted the white eggs. Well, that's nice and all, but I like to mix in these HUGE white eggs to help make up for a few of of the smallish ones. It would take about 2 weeks to make a full dozen of the whites, assuming my girls lay regularly. I would have sent him only 1 dozen and said "sorry, this is all I can manage if only sending the eggs as requested".

I have met some folks that are just so ignorant of the reality of where any of their store bought food comes from really, it's sad,... really sad,.. but maybe he just needs educating on the facts of egg laying..

Like you've been told. Just have DH explain to him that he's getting deal for $1 doz and if he doesn't like that then tell him no sale. However I would accomodate the brown egg request.

If he wants "regulation eggs" he needs to go to the store! If he wants you to provide the eggs he must take what the chickens lay, as they are laid or pay $3.50/dozen and get those jumbo eggs at the rate of 1 per week! At $1/dozen you're not even covering your costs.

I'd tell him to go fly a kite!

Well, somehow deep down inside I think you know how to deal with him. "Oh, I'm so sorry. The girls were unable to fill your special order at $1/dozen. Here are some of my special to order fancy eggs at $5/dozen."

Ya just can't cure ignorant behavior.

Actually I have three that lay pink eggs. Two are brahmas and the other is a turken pullet. Her eggs are the coolest thing, long - not at all round - pink and shiny. I call them her bling eggs.
