"Never burn the bridge behind you. You may have to cross
the river again."
I left that comment and Just Bugged replied that she did not
understand why, that this so-called friend wasn't much of a loss.
Now, that might true enough.
But long after this person has forgotten how she treated you, she
will remember how you treated her. Harsh unkind words, once spoken,
are impossible to take back. Be certain that she will feel justified in telling
other friends of how badly you treated her. True enough, she will probably
forget the part of how she caused the problem in the first place.
The thing is, she won't exactly be lying. And you can't defend yourself against
those words.
You are not responsible for how others treat you. But we are responsible
in how we treat others always.
Just as you had an issue with the feed store : It was in no way your fault, and
you felt that you were wronged. Rightfully so. And you are dealing with it.
Hopefully without anger. The feed store wants, and needs, your business.
A few free bags of food wouldn't do it me, but that's up to you.
We've all left friends somewhere along the way. For whatever reason. And
if they choose to remember us unkindly...Let that be their lie.
...............................................
Almost off subject :
As your family decides whether or not to continue to do business with this
feed store, look carefully. You may not spend so much that you could run them
out of business. But you can hurt them. Enough customers like you, and they
could be out of business. Would that be what you want?
A few free bags of feed, couple of riding lessons? That's nothing. Tell them you
want the whole month free. $700 something? You weren't wrong.
