Some PIG!

Are you walking behind him with a drool cloth yet? I really have to fight back the thought of T-bones and ribeyes and roast everytime I go out to tend to our beef steer. At least I know he is raised with dignity and given proper care until he is slaughtered. Great looking pig there Prissy.

I keep devising ways of acquiring feed for free! There is a small rstaurant here and the owner wants my eggs. I am thinking about asking to trade a doz or two eggs for slop buckets from his restaurant.

good idea Miss P. I started working part time as the cook at the local nursing home. I was wondering about the food there but don't think I can due to health regulations. Nothing goes outside into a dumpster...it all goes down a garbage disposal at the sink. Such a waste of food! If you can get the throw aways then go for it!

We have a major success with the wild pig! Last night we took out some melon rinds I had chopped into bite size pieces. He wouldn't touch the pan. He ran around buck wild. After a while my dh tried to touch him and that set off another wild run around the stall. When he stopped running my DH approached him again and was able to put his hand on his hind quarter. After another wild chase he was able to touch his back. Then my dh knelt down beside him and the pig let him pet him from head to tail. He just stayed there stock still and my DH rubbed him down like a massage, scratching and talking low to him. I was impressed! By DH and the pig!

I worked in a nursing home for years. I know what they waste!

I'm so jealous, I want pigs.

But I've had sausage, ham, and pork chops from them....the best.

I know a man that goes to the grocery store, and the bread outlets and gets the day old bread to add to his pigs diet. For free.

I have often been on the recieving end of free bread. It is worth the wait.

There is a man who processes in a small shop. He will come pick up the pig/goat/lamb/cow and deliver the meat back to you, processed, packaged, frozen and labled.

thats really to bad about the tamworths I hope you can get another pig soon they are intresting animals to watch and I love pork and ham:D

That is the way I got mine to let me scratch their backs but really don't like to go into their pen anymore as they are getting big and they run up to me and sniff my legs and feet and I am afraid they will bite me.
