My flock has been with me just a couple of weeks. I love watching them and have observed some really interesting things. First, I am sure the Americauna and the Buff Orpington became BFF's immediately. I got them at separate times from a feed store, where I just bet they were together as chicks in their brooder. The 2 youngsters, male and female black copper marans picked on the americauna at first, but when I got the Buff and the two started hanging around together, that stopped. You can see that the buff and the americauna are together on the roost.
My Silkie, who I got from a gal who raised her from a chick as a pet, sleeps in the nest box. I hope she will eventually roost with the rest of the flock.
I got that Polish from the same gal. She seems to be very bossy and aggressive, although she has lightened up a bit in the past week.
The barred rock just reminds me of a mother hen, keeping them all in line.
Here are a couple of pictures just for giggles.
PS: I would sure like to get some eggs! Patience.
