Check out the index for Ruth's post. Bumblefoot sugery with pics and how to. This is a great step by step instruction. We had to do it- it was nerve wracking but it worked out perfectly! For a while she limped around like pegleg pete- but I can't pick her out of the crowd now. Good luck!!!

thanks guys, I put on some pictures here to see if people DO think this is what it is, because I'd hate to go digging around if it isn't.

I got all the stuff needed to do this if that is what she needs, and I was a vet tech so it shouldn't be too hard. Wish me luck if it is!!!!

DOes it hurt the chicken when you cut into their foot? I read alot on bumblefoot but I'd like to see more pictures or hear more opinions before I start, just to be sure!!

Yep that looks like bubble foot, see the dark spot on the bottom of her foot? thats were you do the surgery part, i belive, i did have any with bubble foot, but i had one frosrt bite and i thought it was bubble foot and i got a lot of great info here about it.

The guy I got them from told me he had hurt her leg. Geesh, either he didn't know or he didn't want to tell me!

SO I did the surgery last night and today. I cut the bottom open and clear fluid came out, a little cloudiness not much. I finally found a small yellow ball it came out in 3 pieces, no pulling or tuggin just pulled right out. Now as for the top of her foot I made a small incision, and it bled like crazy!!! So I stopped. Soaked the foot. filled the hole in her pad with neosporin and wrapped with gauze and vet wrap. gave about 1/4 injection of Penicillin. She is eating, not drinking so much. The foot looks pretty bad discolored before the surgery. Don't know what else to do for the poor girl. I don't think I got all of whats in there out but I just can't see hacking up her foot to "find" stuff. It bled ALOT!

for giving those poor birds a second chance... They look like they need a lot of love after being neglected for so long

They are LUCKY they have you as their guardian angel!

I would use Ivermectin pour-on drops, in a few hours it takes care of most worms, lice and mites... it's fast, non stressful and it really works well (tried it on my own flock recently, it's miraculous).

With good food, warmth, fresh water, rest and care they should be spectacular-looking birds in no time at all -

I will keep looking for updates and photos!!
