Somebody dropped a box with a chick on my porch!

Thanks! I don't know what is is with my chicks and lying on their backs. My first avatar pic was a newborn chick also lying on it back. I kept getting PM's asking "Is that chick dead?", so I changed it. LOL
lol, looks like my cat, she always flips over for a belly rub

Since I'm sure you're all wondering how she's doing, here's an update on little Evalin:

When she first came here, evalin was extremely thin and had watery diarrhea and was very weak from malnutrition. She also had an extremely bad case of lice and her feathers were very damaged from a bad case of feather mites. She was filthy with poop and other grossness, as well. First thing she got was anice warm abth and some attention. Next thing she got was a small ammount of scrambled eggs and a bit of water.

After a full round of Cocci meds, antibiotics, and dewormer, she began gaining weight and growing new feathers. She is still a little underweight, but is getting healthier each day.

For the first 2 weeks she was in quarantine in my bathroom while she was being treated with the meds. 10 days after her last symptoms began to clear up I brought Minie, a young pullet similar to her age, inside to keep Evalin company. The two have been together ever since and love eachother's company.

Evalin has been a very sweet bird despite everything that has happened to her. She loves attention and clucks and chirps at me to open the cage every time I go in to use the bathroom. She and Minie now sleep in my bed at night with their diapers on.

Here are some more recent pics of Evalin:

This is her getting ready for bed.

I am not sure of her breed or of her exact age, since she was just dumped off here.

My guess is a black sexlink cross.

I am very glad she found her way to you instead of "that other place".

I have to wonder though, you said she was dropped on your porch on September 3rd and she was (about) 12 weeks old. Any chance she was older than that? Whenever I hear of chickens being found in strange places or just 'dropped off' somewhere, I always look at the calendar and wonder if some "person" bought their kid an Easter chick and then dumped it when they realized that chicks grow.

I love this story...what a pretty girl Evalin is becoming. Again, thank you on behalf of the human race for stepping up and doing the right thing. Too bad there aren't more people like you!

That is one spoiled baby! and rightfully so. She will be your best girl I am sure. She knows what you did for her and will repay you over a million times with love and eggs. Thanks so much for bringing the little lady in and giving her a chance at life.
