Somebody please help me!!! It's Phinny's feet. Please!

Cally, if it's the same thing as what Thor has I don't think you have to worry about him going downhill. I've been dealing with it for months now, as has another BYCer.
I only had a little bit of anti-fungal cream, but I'm going to town today and will pick up more. I'm actually thinking about getting the anti-fungal spray for athlete's foot, so I can coat the legs well.
I'll let you know how it goes.
Thank goodness we are finally getting some sunshine. Hopefully it will dry things out well.

Yes, thank goodness - I saw sunlight around noon today - was beginning to feel like a mole! I got home and got Phinny out of his crate and put him in the run and you should have seen him - he pecked everybody and got them all in line immediately. His feet are still red, but not quite so vivid red. I am thinking the dryer air and cooler temps will thwart the growth of that fungus. I had to run home because the telephone man was coming at 1:00, but tomorrow I will get the athlete's foot stuff when I take my Momma to WalMart to get her groceries. Will keep you posted - thanks for the encouragement and advice along this scary road with Phinny. There are some wonderful people using this site.

Cally, I started treating my Thor's feet with more anti-fungal tonight.
Something to keep in mind when you go to the store. There are about 20 differents types of anti-fungal on the shelf. Relying on what I can recall from my nursing days I got the Lotrimin anti-fungal powder spray. It goes on dry. I chose this for two reasons. #1 its active ingredient is miconazole nitrate. If I remember correctly this will also treat a yeast infection and it was cheaper than buying monistat. #2 The dry spray is easier to apply.
It seemed to soothe Thor's feet when I sprayed it on. I coated every bit of the red with it.
We have to go out of town in the morning, but hopefully I can update sometime tomorrow night.

Thanks Gritsar - I will get the Lotrimin AF dry powder spray also. Phinny was outside in the sun and cool air from about 1:30 or so until about 6:00, then I brought him in and put him in the crate. Still red, but not bleeding. Will bring him in for a while when it rains...he tolerates the crate really well, but he sure is glad to get back to his girls...and they all know who is boss-very funny! Have a good trip and let me know about Thor's progress after the Lotrimin.

tea tree oil is VERY TOXIC to birds!

edited to add:

Listerine (the originals horrible tasting stuff, not the newer "less intensive" versions) is a good antifungal, although the lotrimin or other athlete's foot cream is probably a better choice for feet and skin (listerine, however is super if you need to deal with mouth, throat or nasal areas).

I do think that applying ivermectin topically to his legs simultaneously would be a good idea.

I'm trying to go from mildest to strongest. I have the ivermectin on hand, but I want to try the lotrimin AF first. If it doesn't help, on to the ivermectin. A neighbor gave me 10 cc's of it, in case I need it.

Cally, it's a little early to tell but Thor's feet do appear to be healing with the anti-fungal spray. Much less redness.

I don't know that lotrimin is any milder than ivermectin. If I were to make a guess, I would say the lotrimin probably has a larger chance of side affects. However, I do not know this for a fact. I do know that lotrimin will not treat mites or lice; likewise ivermectin will not treat a fungal infection. Since they treat different things that are both likely ongoing issues, I would use them simultaneously.
