Big round bales here are going from $100. To $125. Last year we paid $75. We have a scanner and hear several times a day about hay thefts. Here they have a team 2 trailers with a tractor. They are bold as all get out. They steal the trailers and tractors and if any one busts them they just leave them at the scene.

It really wouldn't be hard to steal a round bale, if you were pulling one of those Tippy Tumblers; a one bale carrier made in Fl. A pretty ingenious device. As you back up to the bale and hit the brakes, the unit tips off the axle and the top jaw opens. You, then, back it into the bale and the jaw closes. As you pull forward the carriage rolls back up onto the axle.....I'd say, Gone in 30 seconds, if they know what they are doing.

the cheapest round bale I have seen here was $ 90.

It's bad enough that these fools stole from you....but the part that creeps me out is they waited until you left, which means they are watching your home. I definitely would be packing.....and I don't mean moving out.

That's true. The hay is right next to the driveway so taking a bale would be easy in and easy out.

Right now everybody is in a haying frienzy and everybody is cutting, fluffing and baling like crazy. All kinds of tractors and equipment going down the nearby roads. I'm wondering if a local stopped by on their tractor and snatched one on the way home? Almost funny to think of somebody making a 'quick' get away on a John Deere tractor going 10 mph!

That's awful.

I hope you find whoever took it, but I'm glad you have enough that you didn't really need it. Around here I would be pretty dang ticked if our hay was taken, as our crop this year wasn't great. I think we've got barely enough if the winter isn't too bad.
