Someone Asked for Suede ... Blue Orp Pics

I have a 22-week-old pair like Skye and Suede, Tristan and Isolde, plus two black hens. They should begin laying soon, hopefully. I'm going to incubate all their eggs later and give all the chicks away that aren't like my two. I might replace Tristan then with a rooster from another breeder before I hatch any more eggs after that first group.
BTW, Tristan crows so much that he gave me a headache today; it's almost like he NEVER shuts up. I might have to give him away if the neighbors complain, but I hope that that doesn't happen until I have the first couple dozen eggs to incubate. What I really want is to have six hens like Skye. I can always get a good blue, black, or splash rooster for breeding if I decide to again.

What are the faults with that one pullet that you cannot use her? Did you ever hatch out any replacement breeders to keep? I am curious if it is wise to hatch out from what you have or to buy additional birds? How does it work with poultry, Most other animals you build your flocks from what you have.

I am not speckled hen but from what I gather the pullets eye color is to light which is a very difficult thing to breed away from once its in so that may be one of the reasons why but I am not expert just trying to remember from one of speckledhens posts about her she is still beautiful !

I did buy additional birds; as I said, the new pullets are not related to the rooster, nor is Skye. Henry is right, DeDe's eye color is too light. She's a fine example of Orpington otherwise; it's just that since I have suitable replacements, I'll be pulling her out of the breeding pen. Her eggs are being used as table eggs now.

he looks a little thin and scrawny

I never get tired of looking at my grandchick. I am going to take some more pics of Blue Boy soon. He has just gone through a moult and believe or not his lacing is looking the best it ever has. He was 2 in June.

She is pretty and will make wonderful eating eggs.

Thanks Henry I see the eyes now. Speckled I read that you bought the new girls. I was just asking about putting together programs, do you keep replacements from your own stocks or is it better to buy them? Just a general question. Did you ever hatch out splashes or are they harder to get? Thanks for teaching a newbie and I hope the questions are not too pesty.

Speckledhen, you're a true professional.
