SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.

Please note that it is against the law in every state to cause any harm whatsoever to a bird of prey, i.e., hawk, eagle, falcons, owls vultures. We are talking a major
Felony here! Not to mention fines in the the thousands of dollars!!

This was probably a young bird or a very hungry bird. Hawks tend to avoid humans at all costs. In all the years I have been working with birds of prey (Carolina's Raptor Center) I have never heard of an incident like this.

Look how comfy she is all wraped up in those towles. She sure is getting spoiled. I'm sure she's loving that. I bet she's glad she has you as a mommy!! I'm so glad she's doing better!! Give her another scratch from me.

Wow, that 's hard to believe. I thought the hawk that took my sister-in-law's full grown chicken from the driveway was daring, but you got a much fiercer hawk in your neck of the woods.
You did good by your little hen. Amazing what we can do when we have to.
Speedy recovery to you both.

Dang! Ya'll are down right cranky these days! What'd someone do pee in your chick feed?!

I was merely pointing out that it is against the law to destroy birds of prey for any reason. It's against the law to even possess one of their feathers. I am aware that this is a valued member of her family but dang! You don't need a "barrel flash of my mossburg!" to deal with the situation.

As a "Ct Lisenced Arborist" I am sure you are aware of the decline in natural habitat of these and other birds of prey. It is because of this loss of habitat that these and other animals have taken drastic measure to feed their families. That's all this bird was trying to do.

I believe deterrants are needed but not to the extent to being at the bussiness end of a shotgun.

I understand that some people are upset these day by whoever and whatever. I see the mods have had their say which I believe means it's a done deal whatever it is. Don't really care. Some people just need to take a step back, take a breath and think before you speak/type. DANG!

I feel for Cheeks, truely I do--I worked on dosages of meds for her baby, but Coyote is right! We cant fault animals for doing what they do. To ask a hawk not to try to feed is like asking a chicken not to lay on egg----or asking a chicken to leave your tomato plants alone!! Its just what they do.

We shouldnt wish upon other animals what we wouldnt want done to our own. Isnt that some kind of rule...do on to others...???
