Someone please tell my wife

OM - you guys are too funny -

Tell her you're adding satellite TV and a fireplace with a bear skin rug too!

While you are at it, why not upgrade to satellite and hi-def?

Really, though, that sounds awesome. Planning ahead, doing it right the first time. Extra hose bibs around wherever you need them are essential.

I like the way you think.

The fridge is already out there.

Thats why I need to upgrade the electric. I keep blowing the breaker when the lights are on, table saw going and the fridge kicks in.

I think that you should compromise with your wife.

If you put wireless in the house with a good range (500ft) then you wont need to run the computer line to the barn. HOWEVER, I think all the other stuff is just required to have animals outside of you constant protective veiw!

Remember to say please honey!

I seem to recall running the the AC power near the network cable can cause interference. The longer they run parallel to each other the worse it is. The coupling noise is exponential, so a small separation makes a big difference. Not sure if what I did was meaningful, but I ran AC 220V buried 18" deep in a PVC conduit, then laid in bricks on top, as spacers, then laid another conduit for the computer cable. They are separated by ~4". My trench is about 50' long.

I must be lucky I guess. My wife totally agreed with water, power, heat, phone and everything else out to ALL buildings including the coop. Have wood back up on everything just in case we lose power and need to keep things heated. Hopefully get the wind turbines up this summer and start adding solar. I'm going to be broke for a loooooooong time!

I think you are doing it right. Get it done all at once and no trenching later.
