I really hope it was just someone wanting a pet rooster, did you have a rooster before? I dont suppose someone didnt want him living close to them so organised a "friend" to stop by and collect him!
Im so sorry you have to go through this.
Ill pray for the little guy.

fighting roosters are bred for generations to be mean, agressive SOBs. Individual Roos are trained for months or years from the time they are cockerals to be effefctive fighters.

A grown, domestic roo is canon fodder in a pit, and its unlikely your bird will make its way to a cockfight. Even though there are no shortage of ignorant knuckle heads in Hartford or Bridgeport for example.

Hopefully some one just wanted fertile eggs, and your roo will make its way back when its done its duty.

Holy cow, I cannot believe someone would have that much audacity to walk in your yard in broad daylight, confront your neighbor, remove tarps from your pen and leave with your rooster, geez...glad your house wan't mobile or it would have been hauled off too..I hope you find him before he gets in a situation were he has to fight another rooster for some sadistic idiots' entertainment. I am so so sorry. I have heartache thinking what this poor roo might be going through. I love mine so much - he is so sweet and gentle - that I would lose my ever lovin' mind if anyone messed with him.

So sorry, hopefully something will turn up. You can also post free on backpage.com .
I know purple chicken already said it, but I also have a blue orp roo if your interested.

Good luck in your search, I am sure you'd rather have your roo back.

I'm beginning to think that everyone needs locks for their coops after all of this lately. Crazy people.

:thun This is just unreal!!

What is wrong with people?!?!?!? I'm so sorry.

I'm actually wondering if the guy was "looking at your property" and then pretended to be a hired contractor (with the truck and all) so that he could remove the tarps, take the chicken, etc. without anybody being suspicious--hoping the neighbors would think you hired him to do the work? And then could come back to rob other houses?

Can you get a webcam? Do you have a dog that would protect your property? If I were you I'd have a talk with the neighbors about this guy, in case he came around "looking" at their property.

You need to go get a description of the person from the neighbor and a vehicle id as well. Then you should set up a webcam for the next time. Especially if you plan on replacing the rooster.

What I want to know is how quickly to was able to get the roo! My chickens are friendly, but not enough to just let you pick them up!

I would also go online and check out his breed or mixes of breeds and post a picture of him what he looks like on flyers. No one will say, oh well there is a spot here, but not on the poster. Well, if there is a stolen chicken, they are going to remember the chicken flyer with the chicken they are seeing...I hope you can get 'em back!

I pray for the person that tries to steal mine! He'll be bringing 'em back at 3am when he won't shut up!
