I have my son's bicycle lock that I put on the coop when I had my birds outside.
A good lock, a baby monitor and a web camera might slow any other buttheads down.
Maybe the person you got the rooster from has a picture of him you could borrow?
So sorry to hear he was stolen. I don't get it.. if he wanted a roo why oh why would he remove the tarp and make the chickens COLD first? Idiot. And I agree, I tried to give a roo away earlier this year on CL. And.. I still have him. NO takers.
It's situations like this that make me want to get big, scary dogs and fence them around my property. I hate the very thought of someone wandering in like they belong here.

Exactly what I was thinking. We're trying to get a better description of the man/truck from our neighbor. We're going to drive around the neighborhood, look at the houses with some kind of work going on and see if we can find a white pickup.
An unknown person tells your neighbor he's "looking at the property"?
What for? Did he tell your neighbor that?
This should have immediately aroused suspicion from your neighbor. The very least they could have done is taken a license plate number and provided a thorough physical description...just in case.
Sorry for your lost Roo. Wow, Weston, CT. I thought that you're in a pretty upscale area. Are the police aware of any cock fighting going on in neighboring communities i.e. Bridgeport?
