Something got in the coop and ate one silkie chicken and badly injured another one

And also for the most part I do let them in the run only but so many animals had dug into the coop I’ve seen a skunk and opossum before so anything can really just make it’s way in the coop no matter what I was thinking to put some kind of traps around but I don’t want anything like rabbits which we have a lot in the area

Im going to look into that I only have 3 silkies left two hens and the rooster. Do you have any recommendations on a game cam ?
My cam is old and I have it in the woods so I don't even know what the brand is. I would like a couple more. I would look on Amazon or similar at the reviews, look at the predator threads and see what brand others are using. @cmom may be able to tell you what she uses.

I've never used any other trap besides cage traps, they are live traps, so if you caught a bunny/cat/chicken, all you'd have to do is open the door and release it. I've never caught a bunny in mine though I have a couple that hang around.

Sorry that you lost your chicken. Many hunting friends use game cams, so check with any friends. Amazon is a good place to read reviews. We occasionally lose a chicken when free ranging, but have never lost one in the coop or run at night. Sometimes it is easier to make your coop predator proof with a secure run and predator proof aprons, and here is a video on that:
