There are certain breeds of every branch of poultry that are meant to be meat, dinner. BBW = Broad Breasted Whites - they are the butterballs and other turkeys you find in the stores. They are meant to be fed and raised to the proper size and then processed to be a meal. Meat birds will continue growing no matter what you do, and will eventually no longer be able to hold their body weight with their legs, which means they cannot eat or drink. BBW's are so fat to start with that they cannot mate. It is done manually in a factory. There are also meat chickens, the ones in the stores are cornish crosses.
