Something pecked it's eye?

Can you get her to a vet or at least get her the Neo/Poly/Dex from the vet? Eyes are very sensitive and she could lose her sight if this is not handled quickly enough and in the right way. That it's getting worse means you really have to get on the case here.

So I can not see a clear image of the chickens eye due to glare and camera movement...I know you tried your best tho. Just to throw this out there, if your chicken has an ulcer or abrasion to the surface of her cornea...DO NOT...I REPEAT DO NOT put a Dexamethasone solution or ointment in her eye, it will cause more harm than good. Does she seem to squint more than usual? Or is she now holding the eye closed, you said it looked worse. Does it appear to have and dark area in the center of the "abrasion"? Do her lids seem swollen? Is there anyways you have a digital camera with a micro setting on that you could have someone hold the chicken and snap a photo? Your best bet in the mean time is Terramycin at your local feed store, it will keep the eye lubricated and while its antibiotic isnt the best its better than spit

PS: corticosteroids (dexamethasone) will delay wound healing. Just for future reference for you all

I'll try to get a picture of her eye here soon. All the chickens are free ranging now so I will get a pic later tonight with my camera. I don't understand what all this big stuff is that you guys are saying, these big antibiotic words I'm guessing? Sorry for the shaking of the video camera.. And the glare. Thanks

Okay I went and took some pictures of her. She was in the pen while the other's where free ranging. She was sitting under the coop in the shade all by herself. I got some pictures.. So here they are..

DON'T MIND THE PINK DOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PIC, THAT WAS FROM THE CAMERA.

I didn't notice any swelling, but I did notice at one time she did close here eye and the other side was open.

So interesting Emily. All I can think of at this point is proper cleansing of the eye(s) and proper antibiotic for the eye(s).

And great nutrition for her. If you have or can get Avia Charge 2000 or Rooster Booster these will help bolster strength and health, which may help her heal.

Her comb looks sooo pale.........
