something stripped my tomato plants

Tomato worms are one thing that make my stomach go

. I take siccors out and cut them in half.

Tomato hornworms can strip a plant in no time flat and they are very hard to see. They look just like the plant itself so you have to look carefully. I am glad to hear other people's chickens like them. I gave one to our pet hen once. I thought I was giving her a treat. She hated it!! She tasted it then spit it out and then wiped her beak on anything handy for the next 20 minutes, all the time giving me dirty looks. No good deed goes unpunished.

I read in one of our garden books that if you out at night with a flashlight and check the plants that they are easier to find since they feed at night. Worth a try.

Well....no...they are not in teflon pans... they are in big concrete planters that have the decorated rocks mixed with the concrete.

OMGosh! I saw this thread which made me go check our tomatoes and I found 14 worms! One plant had been chewed to shreds. I hadn't been down there in 2 days and they were busy at work eating our plants! Thanks for the 'reminder' LOL

We fed some to the chickens....a couple went into a jar - my youngest DD loves to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies and moths.

For the tomato worms . look for thier poop under the plant , good sized black things.
