Something wrong with eggs

Calcium Citrate with Vit D is best.
It will be here today or tomorrow. In the meantime, I gave tums, quartered (each girl got 1/2 a tablet worth), and crushed eggshell, mixed into OS.

How many days should I give the Calcium Citrate? And is there a maintenance dose you recommend, thereafter?

Have read to give it until the shells harden up.
Is it just one bird and do you know which one?
It "might" be just one, since I did get 4 normal eggs, today. I don't know which one, for sure. Would the extra calcium hurt the girls who are laying normal eggs?

Calcium in a concentrated form such as citrate is not for hens laying normal eggs. Yes, there is consequences. The eggs shells will very quickly begin sporting calcium warts or pimples from all the excess in the hen's system. If excessive calcium is fed long term, there is a danger of kidney stones.

Calcium tablets in a concentrated form are strictly for hens in a reproductive crisis. Once the crisis passes, oyster shell made available at all times is all laying hens need in the way of supplemental calcium.

Thank you. I will try to determine which girl is having trouble. In the meantime, I will try adding powdered shells to some yogurt. Does that seem like a safe approach for the whole flock? I've had oyster shell available from day 1. Today I sprinkled some on the ground and some in the feeder

What are some good methods to crush up egg shells? currently I'm jamming them all into a mason jar and pounding it down with a large wooden rolling pin.
