It will be interesting to hear George's thought's on the "sex-linked" color.

Mauve (pronounced /ˈmoʊv/, rhymes with "grove";[1] from the French form of Malva "mallow") is a pale lavender-lilac color, one of many in the range of purples.

Mauve is more grey and more blue than a pale tint of magenta would be. Many pale wildflowers called "blue" are actually mauve. Sometimes mauve can be considered a dirty pink or a shade of purple.

Mauve can also be described as pale violet.

Another name for this color is mallow.

Good luck with them.

Suze, you call him. LOL You're neighbors, sort of. Kidding. I've had G on the phone before so I know he can run a cell battery down. But now what? Get rid of them? Don't breed them? D silver gene I could deal with. And if you can remember that far back you were the one that recognized the color was sex linked. Now why just the boys? Because only they can carry two genes of what ever the gene actually is?

And yes, its over his whole body without a pattern, his tail is darker than the body.

Brenda, thank you for the definition of Mauve. Dirty pink would be the color you see in the sun.

I'm lost - if only the males are turning out this color, and if its sexlinked, wouldn't it have to come from Mom? If its sex linked and it was coming from Dad, you'd have this color in both sexes, right?

They're beautiful tho - but, I always like things that are "out of the ordinary"...

This is a hoot. There are bunch out there that have it showing up. I can understand it showing up in AL & TN since my birds are spread wide & far in those states but this looks like there are more out there besides mine.

And Suze, you noticed the yellow in the one boy. I'll look this afternoon but I think you might have something there. They may not sun burn the way pure whites do.
