Hello all! We are a family of four, and a 5 month old puppy, living in suburban San Jose, CA. We have recently remodeled/added on to our wonderful home, and are currently working on our landscaping. We are planning to add a chicken coop with about 4 chickens in the near future. We are DIY’ers! My fabulous husband has already built us a beautiful outdoor dining table as well as a secondary shed to house some of his tools! (Our property came with a garage like structurein the backyard, which he converted to ‘man shed’ shortly after we moved in 4 years ago!) He is currently in the process of building a fence around my garden area, while I’ve been spending most of my free time planting our front and backyard landscapes. Next up is my vegetable garden! We have been looking through the multitudes of amazing coop plans on this site and are looking forward to starting that project later this summer (hopefully!)! We currently have neighbors on 3 sides that have chickens, and we are really excited to get some of our own! So glad to be a part of this wonderful community! Can’t wait to get down to some ‘chicken chat’ with you!

G'Day from down under Sweetcrafterbee :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Please do check out the Topic of the Week discussions Pork Pie mentioned. I have found these to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
