Hi all! I've been reading the BYC site for a couple of weeks now and finally joined. What a great place to find answers! My husband, kids, and I are nearly finished remodeling a building on our property into a henhouse. It's been a fun project. We were mostly working from my childhood memories of raising chickens - so your site has probably saved us lots of mistakes! Now we only need to find some chickens. We opted to skip the "baby chick" stage for the first batch, but now it's too late in the season to buy pullets through our feed store. I'm watching craigslist and the classifieds, hoping to find some near us. We're in Michigan by the way - south of Manistee. If any of you are within an hour's drive and have pullets or young hens you'd like to sell please keep me in mind. I look forward to joining your forums once I have my own chicken stories!
